Troy Shadow x2 Metal Detector - Is The Discrimination Any Good?
I managed to get a Troy Shadow X2 metal detector in really good condition, these were actually built by Tesoro. I'm just performing my usual unmasking demos to get a rough idea on how well the machine will cope hunting in iron. I change between the stock coil and a Tesoro branded concentric coil to see if there's a difference in performance.

Is The Tesoro Silver Sabre Obsolete?

Introducing The Original Tesoro Silver Sabre
Переглядів 15517 годин тому
I managed to find an original Tesoro Silver Sabre in near perfect condition, I've been after one for ages. In this short video I demonstrate the reason why I value this machine for iron loaded terrain. It came with a 7 inch concentric coil that's going to unmask better than the 4' inch I'm using in this video. My Metal Detecting Blog otherworldlypossessions.blogspot.com

Analog Machines Outperform My Digital Machines On The River I Hunt

Tesoro Compadre Performs Brilliantly In The Heavy Iron

How I Identify Hot Rocks On Tesoro Metal Detectors
Переглядів 16614 днів тому
This is a very quick demo on how I identify mineralised/hot rocks when swinging any one of my Tesoro metal detectors. It's the same principle as the Nexus, the machine won't lock on to hot rocks central to the coil. The signal will rebound off the perimeter of the coil and you won't be able to isolate it. Understanding What Masked Targets Sound Like With The Deeptech Vista X

In this video there's lots of examples of what masked targets sound like, you only learn the audio of a detector out hunting digging targets. Hi Paul, Yes Troy had Tesoro to make the X2 for him. But he engineered the higher end model himself which was the X5/X7 I think. I had a conversation with him when I was still selling metal detectors. He told me what he invested developing them and I was shocked at the cost he put into the detectors. I'm sorry that he didn't apparently make it, could have provided jobs you reckon?

    Пишу комментарий из Беларуси. Жаль, что не знаю английский. У меня есть Troy X5, но и X2 очень классный прибор, мне он понравился. На какой частоте он работает? Жалко, что нельзя свободно купить к этим приборам катушки.

    Flippin' 'eck! Another blast from the past. I saw an X5 (Vaqu/Trident2) for sale not long ago. It was soon snapped up. 🤔I wonder: seeing as how Troys are black stemmed, do they have a wider iron disc band than their US equivalents? Reason: Never owned a Troy, but my black-stemmed Tejon and Euro Sabre 2 had wider Fe disc than their US grey-stem counterparts, as 'we lot' on this side of the pond, mostly have an antipathy toward iron. The ES2 actually had an iron tone "gronk" option. Good luck with it Paul. I hope that it serves you well and proves pleasant to use.

  • @2010stoof
    @2010stoof 15 годин тому

    None of the tesoros are obsolete as long as they either have GB or they haven't degraded in their components throwing the analog circuits off. I still grab tesoros 80% of the time just can't beat it. Analog doesn't lose anything. Lol like records over digital music. Haha

  • @2010stoof

    That precision 7 should be the closest match for that detector to the stock one but maybe either it was factory set with different size coil or the insides have aged and their tolerances changed in time.

      I think I'm lucky with this machine because both coils are really stable, I'm going to try it out with my little 4' Tesoro coil as well

  • @2010stoof
    @2010stoof 15 годин тому

    Oooo I always wanted one of these. The super 7 coil is awesome. So I found out when I got one (just coil) and sent it in with my DeLeon because it has to be factory set for coil (no GB in disc) which you can use a bit bigger or smaller but wanted to set with that coil. That coil looks just like the Mojave thin 7" "precision" coil however I found out that the Troy coil does have different windings and since I sent it in with the DeLeon they said it had leakage so they rewound the coil for me to make it brand new. Haha when it was "broken" it was one of my favorites. Now it's by far my favorite. Troy contracted tesoro to make their shadow x2 detector. But tesoros agreement said they can't sell the super 7 or super 9 coils with their windings. So the Troy shadow x2 and both the coils that fit are not the same as any other tesoros. The price for the detector stopped me. Don't get me wrong the precision 7 it's almost on par but they are different. That super 7 and the DeLeon makes the best coin shooter I've ever had. The analog/digital mix in the DeLeon they really got the nail on the head. I call them "probability graphs" on the display. The design is magnificent keeping it analog while only part of the signal goes to the processor to covert to digital for the graphs. And the more you swipe over the more "nailed down" the results get. It has all the tesoro disc analog circuit but the added digital processing shielded and totally only used for screen only. And every number on the side of the bars is always spot on for coins. As an all purpose it may throw you off but if you want to pick every dang coin out (USA) you can easily. Set the disc to only take out nails and the graphs bars tell you the rest. Anyway I have no experience with the Troy shadow x2 but the super 7 coil matched with the DeLeon let's me literally walk into a place and only pick out all the coins. I love it. And I use others after for the real hunt.

    Ha! A blast from the past. I bought one many moons ago. Needed looking at. Problem with battery wiring. Dave sorted it . Bought a set of his green Pen T headphones at the same time. The SS1 is an ok machine within it's limitations. If you ever manage to get a well looked after UK black stem Tj, I think you'll be pleased. Dave put the UK Pro FGB option on mine, for evil dirt. It made some difference. A Tj with the 5"DD is ok, but I had more success with the 5/10 SWEDD using the tip of the coil for winkling. Finding such a machine isn't easy now, I'd hazzard to guess. Frank Mellish imported Tesoros back then (Treasure World UK). Dunno if he's still about? He was proper sound to deal with. I still have an immaculate, original Black, unworn, Tesoro Base Ball Cap from Frank. Flippin 'eck that'd be a hard to get item too, i'd imagine. Nice nostalgic Tesoro momento. Hi Paul, am a Moroccan fan, I like the way you detect and your veracity, am sure Analog detector are more powerful in depth and discrimination, if you know how to use them. I would like you to test the rutus versa, I believe that it's the best digital detector in discrimination.

      Hi thanks for stopping by, I do like the audio on the Rutus Versa but I genuinely feel that it's not going to outperform my analog machines, micro processors just aren't the same as analog circuitry

    Too bad Tesoro is no more. They made some great machines which I still have and use when I can. They disc. out iron just about better than any other in my opinion. They're simple to use and don't require a college course to figure out. Love the black Cibola and the Mojave; both are just turn and go detectors.

      It's annoying that they went out of business, I think I probably would've purchased every model 😂

      @@paulwarrenmetaldetecting yep. Some of the best metal detectors made. If I was a billionaire, I'd buy all their intellectual property and dyes and start the company back up again. I'd make a Vaquero or a Tejon with a five tone id.
